21 May World Day for Cultural Diversity

The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) in partnership with UNESCO and various other partners from corporations to civil society is launching the world campaign “Do One Thing for Diversity and Inclusion”, aimed at engaging people around the world to Do One Thing to support Cultural Diversity and Inclusion. Following the adoption in 2001 of the Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity the UN General Assembly declared May 21 as the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development. This Day raises awareness on the richness of world cultures and the opportunities that cultural diversity can bring to societies. Learn more at http://www.unaoc.org/do-one-thing-for-diversity-and-inclusion/ Why does diversity matters? Three-quarters of the world’s major conflicts have a cultural dimension. Bridging the gap between cultures is urgent and necessary for peace, stability and development. The 2013 campaign, by encouraging people and organizations from around the world to take concrete action to support diversity, aims: · To raise awareness worldwide about the importance of intercultural dialogue, diversity and inclusion. · To build a world community of individuals committed to support diversity with real and every day-life gestures. · To combat polarization and stereotypes to improve understanding and cooperation among people from different cultures. Join the 2013 campaign: · “Like” us on Facebook to start a discussion on our wall, follow our posts and videos and take part in the photo and slogan contests. (facebook.com/DoOneThingforDiversityandInclusion) · Tell others about this day. · Organize an event and contact us to put your event under the umbrella of the campaign.

Hello, i would like to thank Hannah Cook from Young Enterprise, Vicki Tongman from Social Enterprise Link, Liz Gordan from Brilliant Fish for putting together a brilliant YOUNG ENTERPRISE event Friday 22nd March at Merely House, Wimborne, Dorset, UK.  this event shows the power of collaboration and how we can collectively make a positive difference. Especially the tenner challenge http://www.tenner.org.uk really made us work in small teams to think of a social business in 30 minutes… Well done for the winners, the flying pig, and my own table discussion on Young Women Leadership, drew participants own experience, challenges and strengths to work together.  This was linked to Build Self Group Women in Business coaching and mentoring group on LinkedIn and efforts to support Women empowerment in Libya through LWN (Libyan Women Network).  Thank you for a fantastic time, hope to continue our networking via social media.  Ilham Shebani

Community and Creative Leaders Training Hub

Community and Creative Leaders Training Hub

Dear BSG members,

I met with Terri Ann Laws, who works from the Kinson Community Centre, she runs NLP MAster train the trainer courses, that take 12 days for each of the 3 part stages of becoming qualified in 4 areas: NLP master level, corporate consulting, life coaching and NLP trainer.

Website: http://www.terriannlaws.co.uk

She is also willing to provide the course material and training guide book for free.

She is very community driven and is passionate to empower and enable more people to change their lives. She can devise a training program that suits our work and family commitments.

I am keen to invite her to a planning meeting that we can arrange, to see how we can use her training to develop our own capacity to take Our community projects to the next level.

As community leaders we need to equip ourselves with the skills, know how and the right mind set to make a difference and positive impact in our community as well as excel in what we do best.

I welcome your thoughts on this.

Yours sincerely,

Ilham Shebani
